Baroque architecture emerged in late 16th-century Italy and flourished throughout Europe and its territories during the 17th and early 18th centuries. It transformed classical architectural vocabulary through dramatic compositions, movement, complex spatial sequences, monumental scale, and the integration of architecture with sculpture, painting, and landscape.
